RECONOCIMIENTO DE PENSIÓN DE INCAPACIDAD PERMANENTE TOTAL POR ARTRITIS PSORIÁSICA: UNA ENFERMEDAD AUTOINMUNE, INFLAMATORIA Y CRÓNICA QUE AFECTA A UNAS 250.000 PERSONAS EN ESPAÑA.

Madrid, February 13, 2026.

Recently, the legal team of the Labor Law Department of  GALLEGO Y SÁNCHEZ-ROLLÓN ABOGADOS   has obtained a favorable ruling in a Social Court of Madrid, recognizing a worker in the construction sector as having Total Permanent Disability due to common illness.

The case focuses on a construction worker who suffered from psoriatic arthritis , accompanied by other joint reliefs. Psoriatic arthritis is a chronic, inflammatory, autoimmune disease that affects the joints and can cause pain, stiffness, swelling, and loss of mobility. These limitations, resistant to treatment and progressive, resulted in severe functional disability for the worker, especially for activities requiring sustained physical exertion and biomechanical stress, as is common in the construction industry.

The rulings recognize that, due to the slow and degenerative progression of psoriatic arthritis , the worker cannot perform the duties of his position, which justifies the declaration of Total Permanent Disability and access to the corresponding pension.

This achievement is the result of the exhaustive evidentiary and argumentative work of  GALLEGO Y SÁNCHEZ-ROLLÓN ABOGADOS , who were able to demonstrate to the court the seriousness of the limitations and their impact on the client’s work capacity.

Psoriatic arthritis is a non-contagious inflammatory condition with a significant visible physical impact. However, this disease also has a considerable, invisible impact on the mental and emotional health of those who suffer from it, as a response to the social stigma and psychological problems associated with not wanting to show the affected skin or joints.

According to data from the Spanish Society of Rheumatology, psoriatic arthritis affects approximately 0.3-0.5% of the Spanish population, which represents tens of thousands of people of working age. This condition can make it difficult or impossible to perform jobs that require physical exertion, such as those in construction.

Cases like this highlight the importance of having specialized legal advice to defend the rights of workers affected by disabling illnesses.

GALLEGO Y SÁNCHEZ-ROLLÓN ABOGADOS  continues working to make social justice and the protection of occupational health a reality for everyone.

Far far away, behind the word mountains, far from the countries Vokalia and Consonantia, there live the blind texts. Separated they live in Bookmarksgrove right at the coast of the Semantics, a large language ocean. A small river named Duden flows by their place and supplies it with the necessary regelialia. It is a paradisematic country, in which roasted parts of sentences fly into your mouth.
